I. About 2014 Palaro
The 2014 Palarong Pambansa was held in the Province of Laguna from 4th - 10th May 2014 at the Laguna Sports Complex in Barangay Bubukal, Sta. Cruz. This was the first time the province hosted the annual sporting event for student-athletes from all over the Philippines.
There were more than 11,000 student-athletes from 17 regions of the Philippines that participated in this event.
The 2014 Palarong Pambansa opening ceremony was graced by celebrity-athletes like Kapamilya star Enchong Dee, Jeron and Jeric Teng and Olympian Michael Martinez as they lighted the Palaro torch. 2013 Binibining Pilipinas - Universe Ariella Arida was also present as Binibining Palarong Pambansa 2014. Former President Joseph Estrada was also at the opening ceremony who lend a speech for the participating athletes.Also present on the occasion were local government and DepEd officials from all over the country to support their athletes. Laguna Governor Jorge "ER" Ejercito and DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro also gave inspirational speech.
2014 Palarong Pambansa also included six (6) demonstration sports and special games for our beloved differently-abled persons.
This is one of the best Palarong Pambansa and most festive Palaro as it coincided with La Laguna Festival.
The closing ceremony was also held in Laguna Sports Complex to award the over-all championship.
